Papertrey Ink: Make It Monday

Color Throwdown

November 3, 2018

Hello Friends! I have had a busy week...we were in San Diego last weekend, left there on Monday and went to Minnesota for a meeting and got home late Thursday night. All fun, but definitely playing a little catch up today.
I had to give the Papertrey Ink: Make It Monday Painted Brushstrokes Background challenge a try as soon as I got home. Dawn McVey has a wonderful video showing this fun technique and I couldn't wait to get started. I used paint in the colors from the Color Throwdown Challenge too.

I began by painting a panel in red, orange and aqua. I used a sponge brush and kept my technique rather simple following Dawn's steps. I let my panel dry and then I began my die cutting. I started by die cutting the Papertrey Ink: Mix & Mat Postal Die from my painted panel and a piece of kraft cardstock. Next, I used the Papertrey Ink: Say It Simple-Giving Thanks die to cut out my sentiment.

Once everything was cut, I inlaid my sentiments back into my die cut (negative). I took the time to attach the small pieces into each of the letters to give it a finished look. When you do this technique you end up with two finished panels so I used my second panel to create a tag. I think my tag will be perfect tied to a little bag of cookies or a bottle of wine for a hostess gift.
I forgot to take a photo of my painted background before I had die cut my tag...but I am sure you can get the idea.

Here are the colors for the Color Throwdown challenge if you would like to play along too:

Such a fun technique and definitely one I will be using again. I will be stopping by the craft store to get a few bottles of paint in Christmas colors for next time.

Supplies:
Dies: Papertrey Ink- Mix & Mat Postal, Say It Simply Giving Thanks
Other: Craft Paint

Enjoy your weekend,
Dana
