Technique Tuesday

Love Is In The Air

December 31, 2018

Good Morning!! I hope you all had a Wonderful weekend!! I am trying to get back into a routine of sorts... Wish me luck, because I have a lot I need to get done!
Today, I have a card and some treat boxes using a new stamp set from Technique Tuesday: Love is in the Air. This stamp set is perfect for Valentine's Day or any other day too! Hearts and Love are always good in my opinion.

For my card, I started by using a cloud stencil to create my background. Next, I die cut a tag and used the Balloons and a sentiment from the Love Is In The Air stamp set. I stamped it with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder on my image.  Then, I die cut my background with a Pinked edged mat and matted that onto a piece of red cardstock.  To finish my card I attached everything to an A2 card base.

Next, I decided to make a few treat boxes to fill with Valentine's Day candy.

For my tags I used a the Hot Air Balloon and the Airplane that are also included in the stamp set. I stamped them onto a blue tag and used red embossing powder on my images.

Have you moved onto Valentine's Day? I always have a hard time putting my Christmas stamps away...they might need to make an appearance again! I have a few set I would still like to use.
Thank you for stopping by today!

Supplies:
Stamp Set: Technique Tuesday- Love Is In The Air
Dies: Papertrey Ink- Pillow Box, Pinked A2 Vertical, Minute to Make Tags, Tag Sale #7

Skating Party

Friends Warm The Heart

December 28, 2018

Today I have a "winter" themed card that I created with the Hello Bluebird: Skating Party stamp and die set. I needed a few thank you cards and this was a stamp set I had been wanting to use, so it worked out perfectly! I thought the sentiment was perfect for a Thank You or Thinking of You card.

To begin my card, I stamped, colored and die cut all of my images from the Skating Party stamp set. Next, I used the Skating Pond Scene Die. This die cuts out each piece separately so you can really be creative with how you create your scene. I kept my background pretty basic just using light blue and white cardstock.

The die is almost like a puzzle when you put the pieces back together. Once I had everything glued to my card base I stamped my sentiment. Then, to finish my card I attached my images with foam adhesive and glued down my snowflakes.

I hope you enjoyed my card today!! Will you be creating a few winter type cards...or will you move right on into Valentine's Day?

Supplies:
Stamp Set: Hello Bluebird- Skating Party
Dies: Hello Bluebird- Skating Party, Skating Pond Scene Die

Wishing you a Happy Weekend,

Papertrey Ink

Blog Hop

December 26, 2018

Good Morning! I hope you all had a Wonderful Christmas!! I wasn't sure if I was going to participate in the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop this month, but I found a little time to create a card.

When I saw the inspiration photo I knew I wanted to create a floral heart as my focus. Since I didn't have one I created my own with some of the small flowers in the Bloomin' Cute stamp set.

I began my card by stamping a few different flowers and leaves in Hibiscus Burst, Limeade Ice, Green Parakeet and Bright Buttercup ink. Next, I lightly traced a heart onto my card front (to give myself the basic shape) and then started laying my flowers and leaves onto the heart shape.

Next, I used a PTI edger die to make my border at the bottom of my card panel. I then added a thin piece of Hibiscus Burst cardstock and mounted that onto a piece of Limeade Ice patterned paper.

For my sentiment, I used the Keep It Simple Thinking of You stamp set. If you get a chance stop by the PTI Blog today...there is sure to be a lot of inspiration!!

Supplies:
Stamp Sets: PTI- Bloomin' Cute, Keep It Simple
Dies: PTI- Bloomin' Cute, Edgers
Paper: PTI
Ink: PTI

Thanks for stopping by,

Cross Stitching

Merry Christmas!

December 23, 2018

Happy Sunday Friends! I hope you are enjoying your weekend and not out fighting the crowds...unless of course that is something you enjoy. Today we are taking it easy, last night was our annual Christmas party- Lots of good friends, laughs and of course good food! I do need to get to the grocery store today so I can get the produce I need for Christmas morning breakfast and Christmas dinner. I am hoping no one needs to eat between now and then :)

Last month, we went to the Cayman Islands and while we were on our flight I created a few Christmas Cross Stitch backgrounds for some cards. I have said this before, but I really enjoy taking along a few cross stitch backgrounds when we are traveling. It doesn't require a lot of supplies and it is something relaxing to do while I am sitting and waiting.

I used the cross stitch background die from MFT Stamps. Once my panels were completed I used the Hello Bluebird: Gallery Frame Die #2 for my frame border. This die is perfect to frame the cross stitch panel and cover up the edges.

I mounted my sentiments on a piece of vellum. I have found that this helps "anchor" them, otherwise they tend to get lost in the stitching. My sentiments are from the Papertrey Ink: Jingle All Way stamp and die set.

I hope you enjoyed my cards today. Do you enjoy taking along a craft while you are traveling?

Supplies:
Stamp Set: Papertrey Ink- Jingle All The Way
Dies: PTI- Jingle All The Way, MFT Stamps- Cross Stitch Background, Stitched Circle STAX, Sentiment Label Strip, Hello Bluebird- Gallery Frame Die #2
Paper: PTI
Other: DMC Floss

Thank you for stopping by.
Enjoy your day,

Festive Llama

PinkFresh Studio

December 21, 2018

Good Morning! Today I have a card using the Festive Llama stamp set from PinkFresh Studio. I know llama's have been "trendy" for awhile...and I am probably late to the game, but this is my first time using this stamp set and boy is it Cute!!

I started my card by using the snowflake stencil from Papertrey Ink. I began by using texture paste with the stencil and then covering the texture paste with glitter. My background definitely has a lot of sparkle!! I think it adds to the overall "festive" feeling of my card.

Once my background was completed, I set it aside to dry. Next, I stamped, colored and die cut the llama and the little gifts. This is such a cute stamp set!! I used the hillside dies from Hello BlueBird to make my snowbank and my sentiment is from the Papertrey Ink stamp set: Joyful Christmas.

I think I will cut a few more llamas out and make some gift tags...

Supplies:
Stamp Sets: PinkFresh Studio- Festive Llama, Papertrey Ink- Joy Christmas
Dies: PinkFresh Studio, Hello Bluebird
Other: PTI- Snowflake Stencil

Wishing you a joyful day,

You Warm My Heart

Hello Bluebird

December 20, 2018

Good Morning! I have a card today that uses the adorable stamp set from Hello Bluebird: Skating Together. I was determined to use this stamp set this week...my time is running out but I have a few more things to share before Christmas.

I started my card by stamping, coloring with Copic Markers, and die cutting the snowman and friends. Next, I used the Gallery Frame #2 die for my frames. These dies are great because you get the outside frame and the inside pieces are separate so you have lots of options in how you use them.

Once I had my frames cut, I used the Hill and Dale Die to create my pond. I attached the ice with foam adhesive and then attached my skater. I stamped a sentiment in the bottom rectangle that was also included in the Skating Together stamp set. This stamp set includes a lot of images and sentiments- I love it!

Supplies:
Stamp Set: Hello Bluebird- Skating Together
Dies: Hello Bluebird- Skating Together, Hill and Dale, Gallery Frame Die #2
Paper: Papertrey Ink

Holly Jolly Christmas

Papertrey Ink: Potbelly Reindeer

December 19, 2018

Good Morning! I have the cutest little Reindeer to share with you today!! The Amazing Betsy Veldman at Papertrey Ink designed a set of dies called PotBellies. They are designed to hold a small treat (such as m&m's or something similar) but I wanted mine to be a gift card holder so I turned them into shaker cards/tags.

Aren't they the cutest? They are very easy to assemble and so fun to make!! I made five in less than an hour. I did all of my die cutting first and then just sat and assembled them.

I used red glitter paper for the nose, so fun! For my sentiment, I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Cup of Cheer. The sentiment fit into the circle perfectly and filled up most of the space, which I wanted.

On the back of my reindeer I used the Lawn Fawn stitched gift card pocket. It fits a gift card or some cash perfectly!

I think I will attach some baker's twine to the top and tie them onto a box of candy to include with the gift card. I definitely hope Betsy designs a few more animals for some other holidays.

Supplies:
Stamp Set: Papertrey Ink- Cup Of Cheer
Dies: PTI- Potbelly Reindeer, Lawn Fawn- Stitched Gift Card Pocket
Cardstock- PTI

Charming Cottage Box

Spellbinders

December 18, 2018

Christmas is in one week!! How did that happen? I was hoping to have time to create a few more things, but we will have to see how the week goes. I even have a few Christmas stamp sets that I have not used...there is always next year, right? Were you able to make everything you hoped? I think I need to start my Christmas projects sooner next year!!
Today, I have four treat boxes using the Spellbinder: Charming Cottage Box die set.

I always try to make a fun little box of treats to give to the ladies in my husband's office. Actually, Ric (my husband) sent me a picture of one of the lady's trees. She has saved the boxes from every year and uses them as ornaments...so sweet!
All the details are the same on my houses. There is also a square shaped window, some scroll work, a tag, and greenery included in the die set.

I made two boxes in more traditional Christmas colors and then I used pastel colors for the other two.

Here is the image of the actual dies that I used so you can see all that is included:
I will be back tomorrow with another set of tags/gift card holders that I made.
Enjoy your day,
Dana

Frosty Friends

MFT Stamps

December 17, 2018

Good Morning and Happy Monday!! I hope you all had a Wonderful weekend! Yesterday, we went to some friend's house and learned how to make tamales-Yummy!! They host a tamale making party every year and this is the first year we have been able to make it, so fun!
Today, I have a card and two tags for the MFT Stamps: Color and Sketch Challenge. I had my idea for the sketch challenge, and then when I saw the colors for this week, I knew I needed to combine the two. I love these colors together!! So fun and festive!

For my card and tags, I used the MFT Stamps: Frosty Friends stamp set. I stamped, colored with Copic markers and die cut all of my snowmen.

I assembled my card following the sketch. I incorporated the colors for the color challenge into my mats and borders. I kept my card fairly clean and simple, just letting the snowman and colors be the focus.

For my tags, I used the MFT Stamps: Tag Builders Blueprints 2 for my design. These are great dies with lots of accent pieces included.

These snowmen just make me Happy!

Supplies:
Stamp Set: MFT Stamps- Frosty Friends
Dies: MFT Stamps- Frosty Friends, Tag Builder Blueprints 2
Paper: MFT Stamps Cardstock

Beary Happy Holidays

Lawn Fawnatics: Winter Holiday Challenge

December 15, 2018

Christmas will be here soon!! So today, I thought I would share a few small treat boxes that are perfect for those little gifts or gift cards too. I always need a few gift card holders and I like to be able to give them as a little package. So the Lawn Fawn: Winter Holiday Challenge was the perfect opportunity for me to create what I needed.

I started by using the Lawn Fawn: Fancy Box die for my little box. This is definitely a favorite box die of mine. It goes together really easy and it is the perfect size. I also used the stitched oval that is included with the die set for my sentiment.

Once I had my box made, I began my stamping. I used the Lawn Fawn: Beary Happy Holidays stamp set for my images. I stamped, colored with Copic markers, and die cut all of my images. Then, I attached them to my box with foam adhesive.

For my sentiments, I used the Lawn Fawn: Reveal Wheel Holiday Sentiments set. I have found myself using the set a lot this year. They are the perfect size and include a lot of fun sayings and phrases.

Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Lawn Fawn- Beary Happy Holidays, Reveal Wheel Holiday Sentiments
Dies: Lawn Fawn- Fancy Box, Beary Happy Holidays
Paper: Pebbles Inc.

Papertrey Ink

Create Along With Us

December 14, 2018

I hope you all had a Wonderful week!! It is hard to believe that Christmas is only a week and a half away. Are you ready? I think I am, and then I remember something else I need to get done. This next week, I need to finish my wrapping and work on my grocery list. I also have a lot of Christmas stamps and dies I hope to be able to use!! Are you still creating? Or have you put everything away and moved on from Christmas? I am not quite ready to put it all away.

Today, I have a card for the Papertrey Ink: Create Along With Us challenge. I fell in love with Michelle Leone's watercolor background and had to give it a try! I began my cards by watercoloring a background with the Altenew watercolors. I used greens and turquoise on one card and purple and blues on the other. This was definitely a fun technique and one I need to use again! Once I had my backgrounds painted I set them aside to dry.

On this card, I cut a circle out of my panel and then use the inside piece to die cut my snowflake with the Papertrey Ink: Snowfall Style die. I attached my snowflake to vellum to help it stand out a little more. Next, I stamped and embossed the Merry Christmas sentiment from the Papertrey Ink: Ways to Say- Merry Christmas stamp set. I then attached my card front to a piece of Limeade Ice cardstock before attacking it to an A2 card base.

For this card, I used the larger snowflake die and cut it out of my watercolor background. Then, I inlaid a white snowflake back into the negative space. For my sentiment I used the Papertrey Ink: Keep It Simple- Christmas stamp set. This time, I attached my card front to an Enchanted Evening piece of cardstock and then attached it to my A2 card base.

Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Papertrey Ink- Ways To Say- Merry Christmas, Keep It Simple
Dies: PTI- Snowfall Style #1
Paper- PTI Cardstock
Other: Altenew Watercolor

Happy Friday and Enjoy your Day,

Christmas Joy!

Color Throwdown Challenge

December 13, 2018

Good Morning! I am stopping by (quickly) today with a card for the Color Throwdown Challenge.

To begin my card, I used a Holly Embossing folder from Echo Park Paper Co. I embossed a piece of kraft cardstock and set it aside. Next, I used the Pretty Pink Posh: Festive Holly dies to make my shaker element.

Next, I used the MFT Stamps: Sentiment Label Strip and cut it out of white cardstock. For my sentiment, I used the MFT Stamps: Joy die.

My card came together rather quickly...with a little bit of extra time being spent on my shaker piece. I just love the colors for this week's challenge too!
Supplies:
Dies: Pretty Pink Posh- Festive Holly, MFT Stamps- Sentiment Label Strip, Joy
Paper: MFT Stamps
Other: Echo Park Paper Co- Embossing Folder, Martha Stewart- Chunky Glitter

I hope your day is filled with Joy,

Lawn Fawn Christmas

Hope your Christmas Rocks!

December 12, 2018

Hello Friends! Today, I have a Pop-Up Box Card using lots of products from Lawn Fawn!! The Lawn Fawnatics: Challenge this time was to create a Winter Holiday card or project. I have been wanting to make another pop-up box card so this seemed like the perfect opportunity. These boxes are so fun to make...a little extra work, but the end result is worth it in my opinion.

I used the Lawn Fawn Scalloped Box Card Pop-Up die for my basic card design. I used the included dies and the Perfectly Plaid Chill Paper Pack to make all of my mats. To assemble my box, I watched the Lawn Fawn video. The video is very well done and it makes the process very easy.

Once I had my basic box created, the fun part started. I used the Winter Village and Here We Go a Waddling stamp set for all my images. I stamped, colored and die cut everything and then added them to my box.

You can really use a lot of creativity when decorating your box!! You can add as much or as little detail as you want...

I hope you enjoy my card today! I had a hard time figuring out the best way to photograph it, so please excuse my photos.

Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Lawn Fawn- Here We Go a Waddling, Winter Village
Dies: Lawn Fawn- Scalloped Box Card Pop-Up, Stitched Mountain Border, Winter Village, Here We Go A Waddling
Paper: Lawn Fawn- Perfectly Plaid Chill, Knit Picky

Enjoy your day,
Dana
