Papertrey Ink- Make it Monday

September 19, 2018

Good Morning! Today I have a card for the Papertrey Ink Make it Monday challenge. This week Laurie Schmidlin from Just Give Me Stamps is showing us how to make Faux Gilded Leaves. She has a great video on the blog that shows each step in detail.

I began my card by creating my leaves first. I used the leaves from the Leave It Be stamp set. I cut them out of kraft cardstock and stamped them with VersaMark ink. I added a little copper and silver embossing powder and then covered the leaf with gold embossing powder and heat set the powder.

I then stamped the veins of the leaves with VersaMark ink and added black embossing powder. Laurie also mentions stamping them with a permanent black ink but I didn't have an ink that would stamp and stick to the embossed leaves. I did use an "embossing buddy" so that black powder didn't stick to the leaves in places I didn't want it to.

Once I had my leaves made I starting assembling my card. I cut a front panel out of Cocoa Bean cardstock and embossed it with a basket weave embossing folder from Lifestyle Crafts. I stamped my sentiment (from the Give Thanks stamp set) on a piece of Honey Nut cardstock and wrapped the end with twine. I then layered my panel on a mat of Honey Nut cardstock. Next, I added a piece of patterned paper to the bottom of my card and attached my front panel.

Will you be making a card with Faux Gilded Leaves this week? It really was a fun technique and something I will try again.
